Possibly, but I haven't been able to prove it (yet)

Gen Custer was a descendant of Paul Custer and Sarah Martha Ball of
Philadelphia in the early 1700's. The John Custer, who with his sons came
from Franklin to Somerset Co 1800-1810 was married in BerksCo, haven't been
able to identify his parents to my satisfaction.

County histories from 100 years ago all name Paul as the original immigrant,
as opposed to several current researchers who link him with Tobias of
Mannheim, Lancaster Co. I think there may have been another Paul, not quite
so prominent, who was the real ancestor.

One of my biggest mysteries.
