Good Morning Debbie,
I have a little info on MANGUS / MANGES.
First, I live near Philadelphia, too. We were in Johnstown this last weekend
for a reunion of another line but I got to do a little research on this
line.
My wife grew up in Johnstown. Her great-great-great-grandmother was Esther
MANGUS, born December, 1841. She is buried in Grandview Cemetery in
Johnstown. I definitiely recommend a trip there if you have any ancestors in
Johnstown. There are probably some of them there. Esther married Solomon
HALE, a Civil War veteran who is buried at Soldiers Circle in Sandyvale
Cemetery in Johnstown. He is buried next to William MANGES born 1846, died
1864, maybe in the war. I'll bet he's Solomon's brother-in-law.
Do any of these connect to yours?
BTW - Don't bother with a trip to Johnstown LDS. You can get anything that
they have at your local LDS.
Kindest Regards,
--Jon from Telford
