Hi All
I've been unsubscribed for a while as I had hit a brick wall with the
ROWLANDS. Now I have found an obit that has added some new info so posting
in hopes of finding a match with someone.
Samuel ROWLANDS b abt 1839 near Abergavenny Gwent SW married June 9 1860
at Parish Church Nantyglo Monmouthshire Co Wales to
Rebecca POWELL b abt 1840 Monmouthshire Co Wales
They had 6 children:
John Samuel ROWLANDS my ggrandfather b 7 April 1862 in Aberystruth
Bedwelty, Monmouthshire Co S Wales & died 1921 in Warren Ohio.
He had 2 brothers Samuel ROWLANDS of Bay City Michigan by 1921
& George R ROWLANDS
I suspect he remained in Johnstown area as some ROWLAND cousins came to
Warren Ohio in the 1930's to find work in the steel mills as no work in
Johnstown.
He had 3 sisters Mrs Harry Pringle (her first name might be Rebecca) & Miss
Cassie ROWLANDS (in 1921 they are listed as living Johnstown & Mrs Robert
Zeifel of Akron Ohio.
This family was in USA by 1888-at least one member of this family witnessed
the Johnstown flood from their residence in Conamaugh

My father remembers frequent visitors from Johnstown relatives to his home
in Warren Ohio when he was a child-late 1920's thru 1930's. One was an
Aunt Becky who had a daughter Roxanne who rode a motorcycle in the 1940's.
(a most unladylike thing to do at that time<G>)
