Many thanks to Carl Lambert for his quick reply to my original query on
Jackson Horner which states his parents were John Jacob and Elizabeth
Christiana Horner.
I continue to feel that this link is not correct.
Bear with me as I tell you several things:
John Jacob and Elizabeth Horner are my Great (2) Grandparents. Christiana
Singer is John's second wife. The two first names have incorrectly become
merged into the same person. Elizabeth died in 1861 and her tomb stone
merely says "Elizabeth"
Horner, wife of J. J. Horner.
Storey's History is not always accurate: it does not included a Jackson
Horner; however, it does make reference to the second wife, Christiana
Singer.
John's 1869 will does NOT state a Jackson Horner. It does state all of his
other children including the children of his deceased sons, Daniel and
Frederick. He also provided for his wife, Christina.
Note the Daniel J. Horner (1845 - 1907) that is usually attributed as a son
to John and Elizabeth is incorrect. Daniel's 1907 death certificate states
his father and mother as John and Mary (Beighley) Horner. There was a
Daniel Horner (abt 1825) as noted above who was the first child of John and
Elizabeth. I have copies of deed transfers where John bought a farm for
$1,000 (1852) and thereafter sold it to Daniel for $500 (1856). John makes
mention of Daniel in his will saying that he had previously advanced $500 to
Daniel.
I do have a problem associating John and Elizabeth's family in the 1850
Census as there is a male child counted that I cannot put a name to.
But I feel there has to be more than that to assign Jackson to John and
Elizabeth.
I thought I would test the waters to see if any additional information on
Jackson had come to light. Evidently not. Again special thanks to Carl.
