In Sept '00, my husband & I are to Ireland for a week or so. He's found "his" Coakleys in County Cork. I, however, have not broken the "wall" for my Irish ancestors. I always believed most of my g-grandparents were from there. Fortunately, or unfortunately, the MOYER/MYERS/MOYERS clan from Cambria Co. & the Sharps from the same area seem to have arrived much earlier than I thought. I do not know their countries of origin (for my line).

Nevertheless, my grandfather, Chester Henry MYERS (b. 1885 d. 1969) m. Mary HOWARD (b. 1881 d. 1954) of Braddock, Allegheney Co., PA in 1910 at St. Thomas Parish. Mary's parents were John HOWARD & Margaret MURPHY, both born in Ireland and wed in Pennsylvania. The HOWARDs lived on Washington Avenue in the 1880s or 90s and still resided there according to the 1900 census. Margaret had already died by the 1900 census. John & Margaret Howard had a son, John, who died in late childhood, and Thomas HOWARD, who had a large number of offspring. Unfortunately, I did not know many of his children and the ones I did meet, I have all but forgotten as I met them in my childhood.

If anyone is able to assist me with any information about the HOWARDs, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks in advance for any lookups, hints, tidbits, family bible, fingerprints, etc. that you might come across.

Happy hunting...

Maggie
