Hi Jane,

Since I'd rather spend my money on research instead of
software, I downloaded Personal Ancestral File for
FREE from the www.familysearch.org website. The
downside is that it comes with no "book" manual (it
has full help on the program). PAF is easy to use,
windows based (also available for MAC). If you
absolutely can't live without a manual, you can print
one off or buy one from Ancestry.com (they are on sale
now) or another bookseller. I've been using PAF (in
one version or another) for 8 years now and love it!
