Hello List!

I'm wondering if there are any members of Carpatho-Rusyn or Byzantine
Catholic (or maybe Orthodox?) churches in Cambria County who might
check into whether my great-grandfather Feodor Kosut is buried in their
church cemetery? There is a possibility that if his tombstone is found,
it may be in Cyrillic, and I can try to send you what his name would look
like in Cyrillic characters.

One of my major "brick walls" is trying to find the burial place of my
great-grandfather. His son's European death certificate mentions that
Feodor "died in America", and family legend says he is buried in PA
somewhere. I found an entry in the 1910 census for Cambria County,
there is an entry for a "Feodor Kost" with "close enough" age, number of
years married, and birthplace. This person was living in Connemaugh Twp.
and was a laborer working on a dam. He was living in a boarding house
run by the Shirokmans from Slovakia with about a dozen other boarders from
eastern Europe. I know that my great-grandfather had died by the summer
of 1919. So the date of death we are looking for is somewhere between
1910 & 1919 (inclusive).

I have written to several cemeteries already. Grandview has replied that
they don't find him there. The churches I wrote to have not replied, probably
because they are busy enough without more genealogy questions coming in.

Thank you in advance,
Elaine in Georgia
