Dear Jerry,
Yes, The Star starts in 1908, but the papers from that era were in bad shape by the time they photographed them, and the early ones are white on blue, and often blurred. Some are missing, the entire year of 1918, for instance.
Are they not included in the ones at the state library?
Sedloff Publications now owns all the local papers in the county, and is continuing giving the library the microfilms, so they are pretty up to date.
They charge 10 cents a copy, and will look up for something for 2 dollars, for those of you who want to know.
I will look up things for you, much of which I have already copied, but that varies. My interest is usually the early German families.
Depending on the time frame, The Star also published a lot from Southern Clearfield County and Eastern Indiana County.
The very best thing about the Star is that it has a microfilm with a copy machine attached, so you can get a photocopy.
