GOLD STAR MOTHER PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Mary Catherine (Able) Warner, aged 75 years, died at her home on Spangler Street Saturday evening, death being attributed to diabetes. She was the widow of William Warner, who passed away on July 26, 1934.
A daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Yahner) Able, both deceased, Mrs. Warner was born in Elder Township, where she passed her girlhood. Upon her marriage to Mr. Warner, the couple located on a farm in Chest Township [St.Lawrence], where they lived for fifty years. Five years ago, Mr. Warner retired fromactive work, and they came to Hastings, where they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary, and wher they made their home until death claimed them.
Mrs. Warner was the only Gold Star mother of this community. Her son, Herman e. Warner, fell in the battle of the Argonne. herman E. Warner Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, of this place, was named after the dead soldier.
Deceased is survived by four daughters and two son, as follows:
Mrs. Salome Kline;
Henry Warner; and
Mrs. Regina Lantzy, of this place [Hastings];
Mrs. Thomas Hass,
Mrs. George Koehler, and
Blair Warner, of Akron, O.
Surviving are 33 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was a sister of :
Mrs. Theresa Kibler, of Carrolltown;
Brother Eligius, of the St. Joseph order, stationed in California;
Mrs. Emma Gearhart, of St. Boniface;
Mrs. Martha Waltz, and
P[eter] V. Able, of Norristown;
Frank Able, of this place, and
V. T. Abel, of Vineland, N.J.
Funeral rites for Mrs. Warner were conducted Tuesday morning with a high masss of requiem in St. Bernard's Church at 9 o'clock. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Note: Mrs. Salome Kline was married to Henry Adam "Harry" Kline, who deserted her. In these obits, when a husband is dead or absent, her first name is given.
She had a dead daughter, Bertha Warner, married to Peter Kline [brother of Harry]. Does anyone know if she had any other deceased children.
Does anyone know the names of the husbands and wives of the children? Or the brothers and sisters?
I think they mean that she was the only SURVIVING Gold Star mother,as there were other Hastings young men killed in the First World War.
