Elmer married Maggie Gessler, [I have never seen it any different.] Her
father was Eberhard Gessler, a Civil War vet.
Elmer ran a hotel in Hastings at the same time his father, Michael,
did. He and Maggie had a daughter Emma "Mae" who married Walter Rhoa.
Maggie divorced him in 1904 and married my relative, Edward Kline, son of
Baltzer and Kate Miller Kline. They had three daughters.
Elmer died in 1918 somewhere in NY during the flue epidemic. That is
odd, them naming another son Elmer when the first was still alive.
Do you have any more information about Levi who married Nellie McTigue?
I am interested in the McTigue connection.
I would also like to know the parents of Lydia Helfrich. I found three
Helfrich brothers in St. Boniface, but the obit of one said he died without
children. I think they came here from the hard coal country and returned
there.
