Does anyone know why people went to Clearfield to the Hospital? It seemed to be very popular for the people of Northern Cambria County in the eary part of the century.
I don't think it was that easily accessible. Did it have a famous doctor? Specialities?

Mrs. Mary Jane Barclay Link, aged 45, widow of Philip Link, died at 5:45
o'clock Sunday morning at the Clearfield Hospital. She was born March 14, 1885,
a
daughter of the late James Barclay and of Mrs. Fanny Barclay of Portage. Her
husband died 14 years ago. Mrs. Link is survived by three sons, Howard and
Charles Link, both of New Kensington; James Link, Ebensburg; a daughter, Mrs.
Cletus Bishop, Bradley Junction, and a brother Thomas Barclay, Barnesboro, Pa.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning in St. Michael's Catholic
Church, Loretto, the solemn requiem high mass was celebrated by the pastor, the
Rt. Rev. Mona James P. ? (faded unable to read). Interment was made in St.
Mary's Church Cemetery, that place.
