I think there is more than one Reffner family, or they have separated so far no one remembers the relationship.
The ones in Hastings and Spangler and Nicktown seem to be related, and my g-uncle Frank Feighner married Agnes Reffner. That family was Catholic.
I do have some material about that family, and a gentleman named James Crouse from Washington State is related to them. He visited me two summers ago, and we exchanged information. I will forward this post to him. He may be able to help you with your family.
I think the family I asked about lived in Westover, and that Reffner family is from the Clearfield County area, but I am not sure, hence the questions. I also think this family is Protestant, which made a great difference in the 1800s.

Marilyn,
My mother's family was Reffner. Her dad was George Harvey/Harvey George Reffner. Her mother was Alice Reffner. Her brother was George Reffner. But I am thinking that these are not the people connected with my side of the Reffner clan.
I will look back through my stuff but the names do not ring any bells.
