Sorry for misleading you. I do not have the marriage date for Valentine Glasser and Catherine/Margaret Gorlitz. I do have them as the biological parents of Francis A. Glasser. In my family tree program, it states relationship to parents as Natural, not Biological so that is why I used that word. Sorry.

I do not find Valentine in 1870 census.

1880 Census, Susquehanna Twp, Cambria Co, PA (June)
p. 18, ED 206, Line 39
GLASSER, Valentine, age 32, boarder, SINGLE, carpenter, b. Penn, parents b. Penn
[A boarder in the home of Isaac and Margaret Weakland]

I do not find Valentine in the 1900 census.

1910 Census, Clearfield Twp, Clearfield Co, PA (Apr)
ED 90, Sheet 1B, Line , Clearfield County Home
Valentine GLOSER, inmate, age 55, WIDOWED, b. Penn, parents b. Penn

I do not find him in 1920 or 1930 census.

There is no sign of his wife in these census. I find a Margaret Glasser, age 22, in the 1880 census, living with a cousin, Lewis E. and Catherine Reisinger, in Reading, Berks Co, PA. She is listed as single. If this were the mother of Francis A. Glasser, she would have had him at age 16...not impossible. She is not found in 1900 census.

As Francis A. was born in Wilkes-Barre, they may have been married there.

How do you know Valentine Glasser and Catherine/Margaret Gorlitz were not married? That is what the phrase "natural son" usually means, that the son is illigitimate. Or do you mean that Valentine is the "biological son" of Valentine and Catherine, but raised by Jacob?
Valentine is in a different census district every Census. I don't have a Census access, so could someone look him in the various census?
Perhaps he was not the most reliable husband and father and so the son stayed with his uncle. This would certainly explain the "brother Valentine" in Andrew W. Glasser's obit--adopted or foster brother.

Francis A. Glasser b. April 1874 who married Rosalia Karl was the natural son of Valentine Glasser and Catherine Gorlick.

Catherine's name has variations:

Cambria County Marriage Index Cambria County Marriage Registers
Vol. 21, # 170.
Francis A. Glasser, age 27, weightman, residence Hastings, son of Valentine and Catherine Glasser.
Rosalia M. Karl, age 20, laborer, residence, Hastings, daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth Karl.
Fr. Innocent, OSB, St Bernard's Church, Hastings, October 8, 1901.

St. Bernard's Church Records, Hastings, PA
Francis Glasser, of Hastings, son of Valentine Glasser and Margaret Galite,
Married October 8, 1901, at St. Bernard's Church in Hastings,
Rosalia Karl, of Hastings, daughter of Bernard Karl and Elizabeth Litzinger.
Witnesses: Francis Able and Sara Lynn by Fr. Innocent, OSB

GLASSER - Francis A., 83, Barnesboro, died at 6:50 pm (EST) Oct 20, 1956, at home, 1210 Philadelphia Avenue. Born in Wilkes-Barre, son of Valentine and Catherine (Gorlick) Glasser. Proceeded in death by two sons, Bernard and Francis. Survived by widow, Rose, and these children; Catherine, at home and Mrs. Rosemary Allbright, Barnesboro; also grandchild, Francis. Retired bookkeeper. Served as borough assessor for many years. Member of Knights of St. George, LOOM. Barnesboro Volunteer Fire Company, and State Fireman's Association. Friends received after 3 pm (EST) Monday in late residence, where a rosary will be recited at 8 pm (EST) Wednesday. Funeral service at 10 am (EST) Thursday in St. Edward's Catholic Church, Rev. Father Joseph Trexler. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Spangler. Arrangements in charge of Bacha Funeral Home, Barnesboro.

However, he was raised by John 'Jacob' Glasser, Jr and Mary Ann Huber, who were his great aunt and uncle. His natural father, Valentine, was the son of Francis A. Glasser and Mary Ernst.

1880 Census, Susquehanna Twp, Cambria Co, PA (June)
p. 19, ED 206, Line 21
GLASSER, Jacob, age 52, farmer, b. Bayern [Germany], parents b. Bayern
Anna M., age 45, wife, keeping house, b. Bayern [Germany], parents b. Bayern
Martha, age 16, daughter, at home, b. Penn
Francis, age 7, ?? son, b. Penn, parents b. Penn [this is not the natural son of Jacob and Mary according to this census. Cannot read the word before "son". He is the natural son of Valentine Glasser.]

It is unfortunate that none of the information has anything about Jacob and Mary Ann having raised him except the census. I do not know when his natural parents died.

That is how I have it figured from my information.
