Let me rephrase my statement.
What I got from the earlier emails was do we want to post obituaries of
individuals who died in other states or other cities?
Today many newspapers are posting obits on-line, but some for only a few
days to a few months. After that, they're gone, which is what I meant by a
broken link. It's very easy to highlight an on-line article and copy it to
your family database, and from there to the Cambria web site. Just be sure
while you're at it to copy the link or otherwise list where the article
originated from.
>From new obits posted on-line to older newspaper articles published in other
cities, I've copied and/or transcribed and posted to the Cambria web site,
because the individual was from or his/her parents or other family member
were from the area. There have also been a few I've posted that have
nothing to do with Cambria county, but the area they're from doesn't have an
active web site to post on, and I thought it might be beneficial to someone
down the road.
We have a very active web site run by two very hard working women who have
put together a fabulous resource that has made it very easy for us to post
information for the benefit of anyone from anywhere in the world to view.
Many web sites for other counties in and out of Pennsylvania don't afford
the same benefit.
Otherwise, Lynne's right. If the article was on another part of the
rootsweb database, just post the link.

Just one point about links; they often break.
Don't you think it would be better to copy the article to our site, and
acknowledge where it came from?

Yes! If it isn't something you particularly need (not
related to your family) and you have the original, you could also
offer the original to the first person who contacts you (and sends
you a stamped, self-addressed envelope).
However, if it's something you've found on the internet, you
should just send a link for the site where you found it.
