Simon Niebauer
Simon Niebauer who died at his home near St. Lawrence, this county, on
Thursday May 22, 1902 of a paralytic stroke, was born in Bavaria, Germany
eighty-three years ago and came to this country with his wife and family in
1855, first settling in Elk county, this state. [This in incorrect; Simon
came to America in 1847 and his children were born in America.] Later he
moved to Elder Township, Cambria County and about thirty-four years ago he
located on the farm in Chest Township on which he died. Mr. Niebauer was
twice married, both wives preceding him to the grave. The following children
survive: Joseph of Coalport, Clearfield County; Peter residing in Ohio,
Michael living on the old homestead near St. Lawrence, and [Mary] Mrs. John
Kutruff, also living near St. Lawrence.The funeral took place Sunday May 25,
service being conducted in the Catholic Church in St. Lawrence, after which
the remains were interred in the cemetery connected with the church.
