Mike- the documents signed by Elihu Chadwick (if signed about 1816) may
relate to my Lewis ancestors:

>From "A History of Mckean, Elk, Cameron and Potter Counties, Penna.", J. H.
Beers &Co.,1890, under William Lewis's Facts (I dont know page)

"In 1818 Robert and William Lewis, with their families, left New Jersey and
settled in Rich Valley, which is near Emporium, Pennsylvania. The Holland
Land Company had obtained a grant of a large tract of land it was opening up
for settlement. Col. Elihu Chadwick of Monmouth County, New Jersey was
their agent and induced many people from Monmouth County to settle in Rich
Valley."

Following is from Edna Lovesky: "William Lewis, Jr. son of William and Mary
Britton Lewis, married a daughter of Col. Elihu Chadwick. Mrs. [Fred D.]
Coulson [probably Beryl Eva Goodwin] of Malta, Ohio, was a descendant of
William Lewis, and has his diary."

Anybody know who presently has that diary?

Steve
