Bernie (and others) looking for Patriot Ancestors:

We have the Centennial edition of the DAR Patriot Index (1994). If you have the name of your PATRIOT, we can check the book. This is not a genealogical chart but it lists the patriots that have been authenticated.

A sister-in-law has just been accepted into the DuBois Chapter; if you want, we can get the name(s) and/or address(es) of the chapter officers for you.

The local secretary can also assist you by checking to see if your ancestor has been searched. Since your Aunt is a recognized descendant, she will have a national number. Her name should be enough to give you access, with a fee, of course, to the Patriot and descendants.

In our case, Bruce contacted the local SAR secretary, and he was of tremendous assistance in obtaining recognition and membership. Since the intial application, we have learned that there were actually four different ancestors who were considered Patriots, and he has filed supplemental applications for the additional persons.

This genealogy business is an interesting one ---- good luck to all who are searching. Let us know if we can help in any way.

This is very interesting, because I came to a stumbling block in my research
on my mother's side of the family and my aunt told me she had the
information but (can you believe) said she would not give it to me. She
did say, she was a member of the DAR. She lives in St. Marys and if I
could find the chapter she belongs to, maybe I could get the info I am
looking for. Probably Dubois chapter. How would I contact them?
