Subject: [PACE-L] US GenWeb internet sites - VA

Until recently I have only been on the North Carolina U.S. GenWeb Sites.
However, I have recently begun exploring the very early counties in
Virginia: James City, Charles City, etc.

What I encountered in the VA counties was a request to register and be
issued a password. I had a feeling that the next step was to enter a
credit card number and to be charged a fee. This I noticed on the
Digital Library sections of these VA counties. Is NC just more generous
in sharing genealogy material?

Does anyone have a thought about this? Maybe I misinterpreted the intent
of the registration, but I never intend to give my credit card number
over the internet.
