Thanks for the information about the John and Mary Cornwell Pace who
came to Salem, MO from Kentucky. Several years ago I met with a Pace
from that area while I was looking for information on Absolem and Sarah
Grubb Pace. He told me then that there were two Pace families in the
county but they weren't related.
The Absolem Pace I was wanting information on was son of Edmond Pace
and his wife Frankey Smith of Lee Co VA. This Absolem was born 14 May
1839 in Lee Co VA and died in 1930 in St. Louis, MO but was buried in
the cemetery on their farm near Salem, Dent Co MO. I have found
descendants of this Absolem, and they tell me that he moved his family
to Davis Co IN for several years, then started for California. He
became ill on the way and they decided to settle where they were--which
was Dent Co MO! It appears there are still some of Absolem's
descendants in that area.
