Agreed, there were several John Pace's in early VA. Luckily mine
did not marry an Elizabeth! My John Pace, a son of a Francis Pace,
Married
Ann Russell in Brunswick Co Va . I Need to look up the date but think
that
marriage date was 1763.)

>I hear people on this list asking for documentation. Bruce Howard offers a
"theory" on John PACE but no documentation to back up that theory -- the
same is true of those discussing the issue on the pacenetwork -- in other
words there is no known documentation to the parentage of either of the two
John PACE's -- again if you have that documentation please share it.

>As to the first John PACE in Virginia , please refer to my source/event
time line as published in the Pace Family Bulletin -- they are as follows:

>"Know all men by those presents that I John NEALE doe for mee my heyres,
executors, administrarors and assignees make sale of assignees and send
over and deliver to Mr. John ROSIER his heyers and assignes his servant John
PACE for the whole tyme of service and do acknowledge to have received full
satisfaction for the same. Witness my hand the second day of October 1644.

>Col. George LUDLOW Esq. granted 2000 acres upon S side of the Peyanketank
Riv. beg. upon the Westermost side of a swamp opposite the land of Thomas
TROTTER dec'd and trans. of 40 pers. one of whom is John PASE.

>It is my belief that the father mentioned here is the same as in the first
notation. John NEALE3 is not a planter but a business man. The court
records of the county show that he frequently sold servant boys to planters.
The John is the first event could have just reached his teen age years and
therefor subject to tax and so was sold.

>I can document no relationship of these John PACEs to Richard the
immigrant.
