Linda,
The abstract you received appears to give the names of the orphan children
of John and Sarah (Anderson) Pace of Rutherford co., TN. This record will
help sort out the grandchildren of William Pace and Ruth Lambert. It also
seems to eliminate your Ann Pace who married Alfred Phillips as a daughter of
John and Sarah Pace, unless one of the names is a middle name, etc.
Your questions -
<>
There are only 4 children listed in the 1820 and 1830 censuses for Sarah
Pace. It is possible that one of the daughters died between the date of the
record you posted (date not listed) and the 1820 census. Using the 1810,
1820 and 1830 censuses, it is possible for John and Sarah (Anderson) Pace to
have had 3 daughters and 2 sons that lived at least to a census date.
The 1810 Census lists:
John Pace 1 m 26-45 [b.1765-1784]
1 f 26-45 [Sarah Anderson, b.1780 from her pension
application]
1 m 16-26 [b.1784-1794]
1 f 10-16 [b.1794-1800]
These two youth are too old to be children of John and Sarah, who married in
1805, Clarke Co, GA.
1 f <10 [b. 1801-1810]
This is probably their daughter and it appears she is the one not listed with
the family by the 1820 census.
The 1820 Census lists 2 daughters and 2 sons for Sarah Pace under the age of
10, or all born after 1810.
The 1830 Census lists:
Sarah Pace 1 f 50-60 [b.1780]
1 f 15-20 [b.1810-1815]
1 f 15-20 [b.1810-1815]
1 m 15-20 [b.1810-1815] John b.1812
1 m 10-15 [b.1815-1820] b.1815(after John Pace left for
War of 1812)
<<Is Linny a boy or girl? John and Sarah (McCracken) named one
of their girls "Lenney" with an "e". If Linny is a female then she accounts
for one of the four children on the 1820 census. Polly is a female and so
is
Matilda, then that would eliminate Linny as a daughter and Linny would be a
son.
Is Matilda the same as Ruth Matilda Lambert Pace?>>
I assume Linny is a female - it appears to be the same name as her niece,
Lenny Pace the daughter of John and Sarah (McCracken) Pace that you mention.
The variation of spelling Linny/Lenney does not need to be worried about.
Clerks (and family members) were not worried about how names were spelled and
the interpretation of handwriting can also account for the i/e variation.
Also, the census records will support 3 daughters and 2 sons, but not 3 sons.
It appears they had 3 daughters - Linny, Matilda and Polly and 2 sons -
John and James.
Where Ruth Lambert Pace fits in is a good question. We need to go back and
find out what source was used to list her as a daughter of John and Sarah
(Anderson) Pace rather than one of the other sons of William Pace and Ruth
Lambert. Like your Ann Pace, she is not specifically listed as a child
unless one of the names is a nickname or she has two middle names as you
suggest as a possibility.
<< Also what about the name "James"? It isn't a name I've seen for their
child.]>>
James Pace may not have been listed before as a possible child for John and
Sarah (Anderson) Pace, but he is probably the son born about 1815. There is
a James Pace associated with John Pace (b.1812) and Sarah (Anderson or
McCracken) Pace. Information you sent me earlier about some Rutherford
county, TN deeds included this abstract showing James Pace witnessing a deed
for Sarah and John Pace. (It is not possible to tell from the abstract which
Sarah is listed - Sarah (Anderson) Pace, mother of John Pace or Sarah
(McCracken) Pace, wife of John Pace.)

Sarah and John Pace to Dolason Parker for 262.00, 43 acres and 87 poles.

<<Is there supposed to be an Ezekial in here somewhere?>>
No, I don't think so. Ezekiel Pace, born between 1801-1810, is not listed in
John and Sarah (Anderson) Pace's family in any of the census records - 1810,
1820, or 1830. Ezekiel Pace is listed in the 1830 Rutherford co., TN census
as a head of household with a wife and two young sons. He is listed on the
same census page as William Pace (b. 1773) and Mary Pace, widow of James Pace
in the 1830 census. Ezekiel Pace is possibly/probably a son of William Pace
(b.1773). Ezekiel Pace could be one of the 2 sons under the age of 10 years
in the household of William Pace (b. 1773) in the 1810 census.
I hope some of this helps. More research in original records needs to be
done. While abstracts and census enumerations are helpful, it is important
to look at the original records which often contain additional information.
It is also important to look at all available records - to get all the pieces
of the puzzle before conclusions are drawn.

I note there are 5 children listed and I was only aware of 4? The only 2
names that are familiar are John and Polly (and they aren't listed side by
