Some additional information and comments regarding Bob Pace's post. Bob's
words are in brackets.
<< Regarding Ezekial Pace:
A year or so ago I reviewed the film of the 1877 church records of St.
George Temple. In the Baptisms for the Dead, Book B, Reel N-20319 0170841,
there is an entry for "Baptized March 27, 1877 in St. George Temple, Utah",
line 2866, Ezekial Pace by James Pace, Cousin. My copy does not show the
page number but the lines are sequential for the Book.
James Pace, the person responsible for the entry, is the son of James Pace
killed in the battle of New Orleans. Ezekial Pace, as his cousin, has to be
the son of on of the sons of William Pace and Ruth Lambert.>>
The citation to the entry for Ezekiel Pace in the St. George Temple records
follows:
St. George, Utah, LDS Temple, _Baptisms for the Dead_, vol. B, p. 82, entry
#2866. FHL film 170841.
This is the official record book for the temple in which entries were
handwritten as the person dictated the names of the family members for which
they wanted to perform proxy baptisms.
<<Recently there was message where a person by the name of Strickland
witnessed an official document involving a Pace in Rutherford County. The
first wife of James Pace, son of the James Pace killed in NewOrleans, was
Lucinda Gibson Strickland. They lived in Rutherford County in their early
marriage.>>
In this case, Barnabus Strickland is much closer in relationship to the Pace
family than to Lucinda Gibson Strickland. At this point there has not been
found any connection between Lucinda G. Strickland's family and Barnabas
Strickland. James Pace Jr. (b.1811) calls "Barney" Strickland "2nd cousin"
in the St. George temple records by which it appears James Pace means one of
his parent's first cousins. [This is from verifying other family names listed
and the usage of relationship terminology by James Pace and Lucinda G.
(Strickland) Pace.] Barnabus Strickland is probably the Barnabus Strickland
who is the son of Solomon and Amy (Pace) Strickland. It is also James Pace
Jr. (b.1811) that lists "Barney" Strickland as his relative in the St. George
Temple records, not Lucinda (Strickland) Pace and her son John Ezra Pace.
For those that have examined the St. George Temple records, if James Pace
and/or one of his daughters are listed as the relative, the person listed is
a Pace relation and if Lucinda G. (Strickland) Pace or her son John Ezra Pace
are listed as the relative, the person listed is a Strickland/Anderson
relative, at least for all instances where I have been able to find records
to verify the person.
The Pace family and Strickland family intermarry a few times and live near
each other in NC, GA and TN, and IL (at least). It is hard to research one
family without researching the other (at least for my line of Stricklands and
Paces).
Bob, I believe I have some additional information on Isaac Pace but I will
have to send it later - hopefully today or this weekend. A lot of my Pace
information has not yet made it into my computer but is still in files and
notebooks.
