someone on the list can provide more information.

Hi,

I am trying to research a PACE family that lived in Haskell and Dallas,
TX.

The people in question are JOHN WELLINGTON PACE b. 13 Nov 1879 in DeWitt
Co., TX and d. 20 July 1944 in Haskell, Haskell Co., TX .
He married Ella McIver b. 16 June 1888 and d. 25 Dec 1972. Both are Bur.
in Willow Cem., Haskell Co., TX.

John had a sister, possibly called OTTIE. No dates for OTTIE. These 2
people were the children of HIRAM CLEVELAND PACE b. 1843 PA, and d. 1882 ??
TX ?? HIRAM married Mary ____________ (Believe she was born abt. 1869
possibly in TX.)

JOHN WELLINGTON PACE (above) and wife Ella McIver had 2 children:

JOHN McIVER PACE
MARY ELLA

It is believed that JOHN McIVER marred and had at least 1 son.
He also possible trained and worked at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

MARY ELLA married Jordan Edgar Cravens Ownby in Haskell, TX

MARY ELLA and Jordan had 2 girls: CLAIRE OWNBY b. Abt. 1931 and MARY
ELLA b. Abt. 1934


I am also looking for information on another branch of this same PACE
family that possibly married into the VAN GORDER family who owns the Van
GORDER Furniture Business in Van Nuys, CA.


Any help on this family would be very greatly appreciated.

I believe your Hiram Pace was on the 1850 census of Wyoming Co, PA, Eaton
Twp. The parents are listed as M. Pace age 29, b. PA, and Sena Pace age 26,
b. PA. The children are: Hiram age 11, Ann age 8, Byron age 5, and an
unnamed baby girl, age 2 months, all b. PA.
Living next door is the family of John Pace age 50 b. PA and Rosanna Pace age
46 b. PA. Their children, presumably, are listed as: Dennes (female) 27,
Elizabeth age 26, George age 4 (possibly a grandson), John age 22, Jane age
19, and Noah age 15, all b. PA.
In a different township of the same county (Northmoreland Twp) is the
following:
Thomas Pace age 76, b. NJ, Nancy Pace, age 71b, b. NJ, Harry Pace 46, b. NJ,
and Polly Pace age 35, b. CT.
There were only about 10 Pace families in PA at that time and most of them
were in Luzerne and Wyoming Counties. The Thomas Pace, age 76 was a son of
Johann Michael Pace (Pees) b. 7/1/1728 in Baumholder Prussia, m. Ann Margaret
Welsch.
Michael settled first in German Valley, NY before migrating to Luzerne Co, PA.
It may be that the John Pace on the census was a son of Thomas and Nancy and
that M. Pace was a son of John, but, at this point this is just speculation.
Most of the Paces in PA at that time were descendants of Johann Michael Pace
- the name had changed from Pees to Pace when they came to America.
