This new one for me Cattle marking are listed:In a 20 year period 1722-1741, over 500 livestock http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ifetch2?/u1/data/nc+index+142021736271+F
marks were recorded in Bertie County Court.
Identification was necessary due to the livestock
roaming freely. People came to Court during those
years and made records of marks. Example: "A close
Crop in the ear and two in the right."
There are parts of 40 pages of listing for Bertie
County Live Stock Marks archived in Raleigh, N.C.

Note that Richard (Jr). is also listed as receiving 5 shillings or something like that. Don't know about George-someone else will have to answer that.
