Lois,

Being a fan of forensic anthropology type programs on the Discovery Channel, etc, I would bet that a lot could be done to help establish whether or not those are the graves of your ancestors. However, you might need to win the lottery first as I suspect that it all might be expensive. Examination of the remains would likely tell you the sex and probable age at death of the person along with possible injuries like broken bones or diseases like arthritis. I expect that DNA could be extracted that would confirm or deny the genetic relationship. Before you take this opinion too seriously, go back to my first sentence where I confessed the source and depth of my expertise on the topic.
