I believe it has been noted that the Wales legend makes sense in the John of
M line as he was apparently born within three miles of the currently
accepted "border" of Wales, which is today simply a part of the United
Kingdom. At one time that area was considered a part of Wales. Of course, as
previously noted, Wales was never an independent country as Scotland was. It
was briefly united in medieval times but as a feudal arrangement only where
the various chiefs pledged loyalty to one of them as suzerain, but that
makes him something like the chairman of the committee of chiefs without
governing power over their individual areas. I have an old map showing Wales
as extending to the River Severn, which includes today's Shropshire,
England, and the town of Prees where John was apparently born. The exact
borders of "Wales" have never been precisely located. Today, certain
counties re considered Welsh counties and others are considered English
counties. From memory, I seem to recall that the Welsh counties have some
local autonomy in their legal system, but politically, they are simply part
of the United Kingdom and send representatives to Parliament not as
representatives of "Wales" but simply of their individual districts similar
to the way our House of Representatives works.
But I am curious about the three brothers story. We don't know of any
brothers to John of M. I dimly recall another "three brothers" story in
which the Pace brothers who came to Missouri were confused with the original
Pace ancestor from Britain.
Wales of course is and always was part of Britain, as that term refers to
the island, not the nation. The terminology confuses Americans.
The Llewellyn name is of course Welsh. It could come from the John of M line
or from a female line.
Interesting how we have used DNA to start sorting out these family legends.
All lines of my family have a family legend of descent from Richard of
Jamestown, but DNA disproves this. I traced these legends back to Virginia,
where Richard is even more famous than in the US as a whole. Everyone wanted
to be descended from Richard the hero of Jamestown, and it is easy to see
how these stories would get started.

Once again I think of the name James Llewellyn Pace in my family and that of
George Llewellyn Pace of Albemarle VA
I have been told that my pace ancestors were three brothers from Ireland or
Wales.
Thru the DNA testing it is believed they are descended from John Pace of
Middlesex.
Any other Llewellyn Paces known.
John Walker Pace, son of JOhn R.Pace b. 1809, had a brother, James Llewellyn
Pace b. in Fluvanna Co.VA
