Justin,

The hard returns did not show correctly:

Boggs was formed in 1814 from Spring Township, first called Allen Township,
name changed to Boggs in April 1815

Rush was formed in 1814 from Half Moon Township

Snowshoe was formed in 1840 from Boggs and Howard Townships

Union was formed in 1850 from Boggs Township

Burnside was formed in 1856 from Spring and Howard Townships

Curtin was formed in 1857 from Howard Township

And since I don't have a copy of your source I can only rely on what I have.

It says the same thing. So I was wrong or my source was wrong...

There must be error in the PA Line on that point. Linn's History references
that at the April, 1856, term of court, certain citizens of Snow Shoe
Township appeared, petitioning that the northern part of that township be
divided into a new township. This was done in November of 1856, and the
Pine Glen school-house appointed the place of election for the new township,
which was called "Burnside." The President Judge of Centre County at that
time was the Hon.
James Burnside (1809-1859) and his father was a celebrated former judge, the
Hon.
Thomas Burnside (1782-1850), and the township was likely named for one or
both of them.
