The earliest Quaker Greggs resided in Christiana Hundred, New Castle on
Delaware where they attended Center Meeting House. The Monthly Meeting
they belonged to however was Newark/Kennett located in Chester Co., PA.
It is the Monthly Meeting records which contain the information of most
interest to genealogists -- births, burials, marriages, disownments,
certificates of removal, etc.

Jurisdictions of Quaker Monthly Meetings do not follow civil boundaries
and frequently cross counties and even states. If you find a family in
the minutes of Newark/Kennett you cannot assume that they resided in
Chester Co., PA. Many of the entries will indicate that a person was
from Center or Hockessing meetings for worship which were physically
located in New Castle Co.

Later Wilmington Monthly Meeting was set up which served those Quakers
living in the New Castle vicinity.

When doing Quaker research, it is important to bear in mind that monthly
meeting boundaries often changed as populations of Quakers came and
went.
Families might have resided on the same piece of property for several
generations, but the monthly meeting with which their meeting for
worship belonged might have changed several times giving the appearance
that the family moved back and forth between different areas when in
fact they stayed put.
