Subject: PORTERs in Chester Co. early 1700s.

I have been searching my PORTER ancestors from 1700s in eastern PA without
success; there is a whole web page of Porters in America but not my PORTERs who
were suppose to be well known in Chester County in the early
1700s.

My GGGGgrandmother, Elizabeth PORTER (1733-1823) married John GEMMILL (1719
-1789) and lived in York Co. Their son, the Rev. John GEMMILL, married his
second cousin Rebecca IRWIN, d/o Joseph IRWIN and Violetta PORTER (1738/9 - ?) of
Greencastle, Franklin Co. The Rev. John was a Presbyterian minister in Chester
County and he and Rebecca had four children.

Violet was the d/o James PORTER, who must have been a brother of
Elizabeth's father. Violet's sister, Rebecca, married James IRWIN,
Joseph's older brother; another of Violetta's sisters, Isabella PORTER, also
married an IRWIN.

Do you know my PORTERs? Or can you tell me how I can find them? The Irwin and
Gemmill family trees have been surprisingly accessible. Any information or
advice you can provide would be much appreciated.
