Hi Anyone,
Sorry to be a pest, but I just want to get my record straight.
I'm afraid someone has given Great Grand Daddy (in Indiana) two extra
children he never had. I never had a Great Uncle Joe nor a Great Aunt
Margaret. Yes, Great Grand Daddy had twelve offsprings! But someone
didn't know about Lydia, the eighth child. (She died when she was
nineteen.) Baby Abrerel the eleventh child. (He died before he was two.)
Both are buried Old Union Cemetery in Lewis Township, Clay County, Indiana,
with John and Elizabeth. Lydia could have been listed in the 1870 censuses
depending on when they were and when she died.
In the 1870 censuses Mary Ann and Amanda would not be listed as living in
their father's home because they were married with homes of their own.
Mary Ann had moved to Arkansas and had her first child. Amanda had three
children of her own. Later two Mary Ann's children moved to Indiana to
live with their grandparents after she died until they married.
John and Elizabeth (Love) Neal's children were 1. Mary Ann, 2. Amanda, 3.
Barbara, 4. Louisa, 5. Elihu, 6. Henry, 7. Sarah, 8. Lydia, 9. Susanna, 10.
Wilson, 11. Abrerel and 12. John Addison (my grandfather).
I went a genealogy meeting last night and while there I rechecked the 1870
censuses Lewis Township, Clay County, Indiana, and the information above is
correct. The information is in two Clay County history books: Blanchard
and Travis, which most families from around here find very accurate when
doing their family history. Blanchard was published in 1884 and Travis 1909.
My reasoning is if someone could get my great grandparents' offsprings
mixed up, would it be possible to get my fourth great grandparents'
children wrong also? Could it be possible that Henery and Sarah (O'Mooney)
Neal did not have Jesse, Henry, James, Benjamin or/and Robert as sons?
Could these men have brothers, cousins or uncles or no relation to Henery?
Three other older people (my aunt was ninety five when she died in 1993) in
the family have dug our roots and I did not find these men in their
records. Who were they and where did they come from? You said New Garden
MM in Chester County, PA. Yet, when I wrote to PACHESTE-L they said they
could only find William as son of Henery and Sarah Neal of Sadsbury.
I have sent this to a researcher, who shall remain nameless, that
claims Henery and Sarah's children was found at New Garden MM in Chester
County, PA. Now I'm sending it to you people. I have posted this query
before and will continue to do so until someone can come with a reason for
me to believe these men belonged to Henery and Sarah Neal.
Thank you for your patience.
Needless, I am confused and more than a little frustrated.
Sorry this is so long.
Guess I got carried away.
