Elk Ridge does still exist although the church building is no longer used.
It is surrounded by a cemetary which I visited last year but I do not have a
record of the burials. My gg.Grandfather Charles Wilson and wife, Jane
Carlisle Wilson, in 1833 gave 96 square perches (3/4 acre) to five trustees
for the establishment of a Methodist Episcopal Church and it was called Elk
Ridge. At the time Charles Wilson was himself becoming a Methodist minister.
The church struggled to survive and in spite of several revivals over the
years the church became a private residence in 1937.
