In 1793, Sarah James (widow of Jonathon Ashbridge) along with her family and grandson (James McClure) emigrated from Philadelphia to Toronto. There she and her family become one of the original settlers and gave the Ashbridge name to a large bay in what is now downtown Toronto.

Her grandson, Jesse Ashbridge built a house which still stands and will be the site of a family reunion this summer.

Hope to see some of our American cousins!

By the way, we are still trying to connect William McClure (James' father) who is said to have died in around 1792) (those pesky Scotch Irish ancestors).
