Glad to see we are trying to crack brick walls! I have several to
crack!!

1. My gr3grandparents were Zenas SAVAGE (12/13/1798-8/25/1877) and
Rebecca MARCH (8/16/1800-9/11/1879) of E Coventry. They are both buried
in Oak Grove Cemetery in Parkerford. On Rebecca's stone is says she was
born in Sunbury. I have not been able to find any MARCH family in
Sunbury, which is Northumberland County now. They had 3 children, shown
on the 1850 Census to be David(Davis) age 29, George (my gr2grandfather)
age 25, Emeline age 20 and George's wife, Charlotte (nee MOHR - my
gr2grandmother) age 23 in the household then. Son George Washington
SAVAGE and Charlotte had three children: Clara, Minerva and George
Wilmot SAVAGE. Their father, George Wash. SAVAGE, died in 1/12/1856
and in the History of Montgomery Co online book, mention is made of a
Washington SAVIDGE(spelling varied) who was a partner in the National
Stove Works, estab 1848 in Lawrenceville which later moved to Limerick.
Also other partners were Michael MARCH, Isaac BUCKWALTER, John and
Thomas CHURCH, James ELLIS, George FRICK and in 1855 a Henry C MARCH and
Daniel ALLEN. When SAVIDGE died, Henry MARCH and Joseph JOHNSON bought
interest. In the 1860's Franklin MARCH entered the firm and it was
moved to Limerick Station in 1866. So I am wondering if these MARCH
partners were related to Rebecca MARCH, Zenas's wife. Coincidentally,
Zenas SAVAGE had a brother George SAVAGE (3/23/1797-8/16/1887) who
married a Mary MARCH (4/12/1806-3/10/1882). I don't know if she is a
sister of Rebecca or not. Does anyone have any information on family
or parents of Michael MARCH, the first partner and co-founder in 1848?

2. Daughter of Geo W and Charlotte K. (MOHR) SAVAGE, Clara SAVAGE, (my
grgrandmother) (8/24/1851-9/15/1900) married Daniel W LANDIS
(8/2/1850-11/22/1886) born in Warwick Twp, not far from E Coventry.
Daniel W LANDIS was a son of Daniel LANDIS (10/271803-4/7/1878) and
Elizabeth JONES (8/29/1810-12/20/1869). Elizabeth and Daniel are buried
in St Peter's Reformed Church (UCC) Cemetery in Knauertown with two of
their children. He was a farmer and carpet weaver. I have not been
able to find his ancestors. The 1790 Census shows only a few LANDIS
families in Chester Co including a Jacob LANTIS(could be LANDIS?) in
Coventry Twp; a Michael LANDIS in 1810 and 1820 in Coventry; and Henry
LANDIS, E Nantmeal; a Jacob and Rachel LANDIS were in Treydyffryn;
Phillip LANDIS in East Town - all in 1810. Does anyone have any
information on Jacob LANDIS/LANTIS? IGI record at FamilySearch shows a
Jacob LANDIS born 9/19/1777 in Chester, PA and parents were Frederick
LANDIS and Elizabeth HOCH. These could possibly be my Daniel LANDIS's
ancestors. I need help with this line. An interesting note is that
when Mary JONES died in 1866 and Daniel LANDIS's wife ELizabeth died in
1869, they were shown to be living in N Coventry. Daniel LANDIS was
shown alone in N Coventry on the 1870 Census - age 66 and occupation was
carpet weaver. Was Warwick Twp part of N Coventry? Or could they have
sold the farm in Warwick and moved to N Coventry? Anyone comment on
this? Coventry seemed to be central to some of the LANDIS.

3. Mary JONES, Elizabeth's mother, lived with them and was shown as a
widow, age 84 on the 1850 and age 93 on the 1860 Census in Warwick Twp.
Mary (nee DUGAN) JONES died 3/26/1866 one month shy of age 100. She was
the daughter of James and Sarah DUGAN of E Nantmeal whose will of 1810
was proved in 1825 and mentions Mary JONES and her daughter Elizabeth.
I have been trying to find who Mary (DUGAN) JONES's husband was. She is
buried in Oak Grove Cemetery with dates 4/5/1766-3/26/1866. Articles in
the Village Record do not show who her husband was. Other JONES who
are buried near her include an Abraham JONES who died 12/17/1818, age
59y, 6m, 22 days. This yields a year of birth of 1759, certainly the
right age to be her husband. BUT I have not found an Abraham JONES in
Chester County! There is also a David W JONES 1/17/1820-1/3/1881 and
wife Lavina B (12/25/1819-12/14/1878 with daughter Alice who died
1/12/1866 also buried there. They could possibly be related, although
if Abraham who died in 1818 were Mary's husband, then David Jones born
in 1820 could not be his son! On the 1860 Census David W JONES and
Lavina were living in N Coventry and had a dau Alice age 10; sons
Walter, age 9 and Houser, age 2 and a Samuel JONES age 35 - teacher
living with them (a brother). A Samuel JONES is also buried in Oak
Grove Cemetery with dates 8/4/1821-1/29/1867. Does anyone have anything
on these JONES and a connection to Mary DUGAN JONES?
Interesting trivia also is that Clara and Daniel LANDIS had two
children: a son Walter Savage LANDIS and a daughter Charlotte SAVAGE
LANDIS. Son Walter could have been named for the Walter JONES, as this
is the first time I have seen that name in our family. So I do feel
that the Jones buried at Oak Grove are somehow related.

I would love to find a crack in these 3 brick walls! HELP!!!!
