John - your comment about Elizabeth Jones being daughter of Rebecca Eavenson
caught my eye as I have Eavensons related to my Woodwards and have an
Eavenson page up on our Web Site at
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Farm/4038/Eavenson.html
If you have access to the Palmer-Trimble Genealogy I am interested if it
includes information about Rebecca Eavenson and her parents.
I have much more Eavenson information that I haven't added to our page yet.
I have Rebecca Eavenson married to Benjamin Jones 1773 "in Western
Pennsylvania" which does not appear to be correct if Elizabeth Jones was
born in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The "in Western Pennsylvania" (for
which I do not have a source listed) is apparently wrong anyway as Rebecca
and Benjamin Jones's daughter Lydia married her cousin Richard Eavenson in
1803 in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
The other problem I have with the Rebecca Eavenson family is some
information from John Pitts Launey in his "First Families of Chester County,
Pa, Vol 1". On page 84 he lists Elizabeth Palmer, born 24th of 3rd mo 1724
m. 1746 Nathaniel Eavenson, son of Ralph and Grace Arnold Eavenson of
Concord. He has so much Palmer information in his book I am suspicious he
may have used the Palmer Genealogy for his information. Nathaniel Eavenson
was not son of Ralph and Grace Arnold Eavenson but was son of Richard and
Jemima Newlin Eavenson and named for Jemima's father, Nathaniel Newlin.
Launey has many, many errors in his books so I am assuming he often strays
to other sources than Quaker records.
Would appreciate any comments from you on this situation - and if necessary
I have access to Chester County Quaker records to pursue this further.
