Helen,
Thank you for the informative response on the
board, on 12/09/02. You provided a good bit of data on the RHOADS family, in
the Philadelphia area. I must apologize for not responding sooner. Between
work and preparations for the holidays, my activities have been somewhat
disjointed.
At this point, I have little knowledge of my wife's RHODES/RHOADS
connection. We suspect they had been in Uwchlan Twp, Chester Co. because of
the 1790 census and a note found in an old book, printed in 1970. The book
was by a historian for the HOWER family. It indicated that Mary RHODES was
born in Jugland Twp., Chester Co., in 1792. I have also uncovered several
glaring mistakes in this book, so I'm not 100% certain about this
information. The most notable was that the patriarch of the family was given
an incorrect name when the author transcribed it from the ship's manuscript.
But, that's an entirely different story. Here is all I have on the

In the "book" there is a mention of Benjamin HOWER marrying a
sister to Maria RHODES; however, no name was provided. These are the only
RHODES names of which I am certain. As you can see, we've only been able to
ascertain the connection to the HOWER (originally HAUER) line. I have tons
of information on my wife's HOWER line.
