FRED W. COLEMAN
Fred W. Coleman, 71, of Sigel RD 1, Heath Township, died Friday,
March 14, 2003, in Brookville Hospital.
Born Oct. 2, 1931, in Johnstown, he was the son of LeRoy and Emma
Saintz Coleman.
Mr. Coleman was a carpenter and worked for Bethlehem Steel in
Johnstown.
He was a member of the Heath Township Sportsman Club.
Mr. Coleman was married in Johnstown Oct. 23, 1964, to Mildred A.
Holko, who survives.
Also surviving are three stepchildren, Linda Baker of Erie, Saundra
Shawley of Johnstown and Judy Lapic of Elberson; and three
grandchildren.
Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation was held from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday in the McKinney Funeral
Home, 345 Main St., Brookville.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society.

ROBERT CLAIR GEORGE
Robert Clair George, 75, of 35 Woodside Ave., Oil City, died early
Monday morning, March 17, 2003, at his residence.
Born Aug. 31, 1927, in Oil City, he was the son of Clement and Myrtle
Winger George.
Mr. George was a 1945 graduate of Oil City High School. He took
college courses in mechanical engineering and much of his education
was self-taught.
He served for two years in the Navy.
Mr. George worked for Continental Can Co. for 36 years and became the
plant superintendent before his retirement in 1983.
After his retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively and would
spend their winters in Florida and their summers in Pennsylvania. They
loved to visit with family and friends.
Mr. George was a member of the Hasson Heights Presbyterian Church and
also was a member of the Elks Club.
His special interests included golf, fishing, hunting, sports and
spending time with his family. He liked to e-mail his friends and
family.
Mr. George was married June 2, 1951, to Betty L. Sanner, who
survives.
Also surviving are three sons and their spouses, Robert A. and
Darlene George of Rogers, Ohio, Larry F. and Grace George of Oil City
and Kevin L. and Lorrie George of Indiana; seven grandchildren,
Kristen George of South Carolina, Cody George, Sarah George and Seth
George, all of Oil City, Nathan Wright and Kyle George of Indiana and
Justin George of Rogers, Ohio; and a special friend, Babette Osborne.
He also is survived by a sister, Louise Kurtz of Mesa, Ariz.; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. George was preceded in death by a
brother, Gerald George; and a sister, Madlyn Snow.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the
Morrison Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral
home with the Rev. John E. Bower II, pastor of the Hasson Heights
Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Hasson Heights Presbyterian Church.

DORIS MARIE LEHMAN
Doris Marie Lehman, 73, of 995 Pone Lane, Franklin, died at 10:15
p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2003, in her home after an extended illness.
Born June 12, 1929, in Franklin, she was the daughter of George W.
and Bessie M. Davis Snyder.
She was a graduate of Franklin High School.
Mrs. Lehman was employed at Joy Mining Machinery, Eckerd's Drug and
The Salvation Army.
She was a member of the East Grove United Methodist Church where she
had been very active in church activities and missions, the United
Methodist Women, Sunday School teacher, helped with Vacation Bible
School and was a church youth leader.
Mrs. Lehman was a past member of Sandycreek Grange No. 2021, a 4-H
leader, served on the Girl Scout Service Council, delivered Meals on
Wheels, past president of the WCSC and past state president of WCSC.
She volunteered for the American Red Cross, the Literacy Council and
the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Lehman's hobbies included camping, swimming, reading, gardening
and spending time with friends, family and grandchildren.
She was married July 13, 1951, to Paul L. Lehman, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Paul L. Lehman and wife, Kelly, of
Franklin, Joetta M. Lehman of Cap-Haitien, Haiti, and Jenny L. Lehman
of Franklin; five grandchildren, Tamara J. Curry, Melissa A. Lehman,
Jessica M. Norris and Tavia J. Norris, all of Franklin, and Kenneth P.
Lehman, serving with the Army Green Beret Special Forces at Fort
Bragg, Fayetteville, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Dakota Boone
of Franklin and Jacob Lehman of England.
She also is survived by three brothers, George W. Snyder Jr. of Fort
Myers Shores, Fla., Robert P. Snyder and wife, Anne, of Franklin and
John E. Snyder and wife, Ginger, of Farmdale, Ohio; an aunt, Jane
Davis of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lehman was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William
G. Snyder; two sisters, Helen Fitzgerald and Norine E. Pritts; and a
nephew, Bruce Snyder.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Huff
Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the East Grove
United Methodist Church, Belmar Road, with the Rev. George Nagel,
pastor, and the Rev. Paul Tobias, a former pastor of Mrs. Lehman,
officiating.
Interment will be in Graham Cemetery.
The family suggests donations be made to OMS International (Haiti),
P.O. Box A, Greenwood, Ind., 46142; the American Red Cross, P.O. Box
370, Reno, 16343; or to the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango
County, 176 E. Bissell Ave., Oil City, 16301.

SPC. SHAWN ALAN MAYERSCIK
Spc. Shawn Alan Mayerscik, 22, of 17 Oakwood Drive, Oil City, was
killed Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in a Black Hawk helicopter crash at
Fort Drum, N.Y.
Born June 25, 1980, in Johnstown, he was the son of Steve and Kathy
Holzman Mayerscik.
He graduated in 1999 from Oil City High School where he was a member
of the football team and the swim team.
Mr. Mayerscik was an accredited scuba diver and held a black belt in
Tang Soo Do Karate. While stationed in Fort Lewis, Wash., he trained
in Gracie Jiu Jitsu.
He joined the Army in 1999 and distinguished himself as an elite Army
Ranger. He fought with the Rangers in Afghanistan with Operation
Enduring Freedom.
Mr. Mayerscik was an Airborne Ranger and had earned his jump wings
both in the United States and Ecuador.
He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and
a Special Commendation Medal for his actions in Afghanistan.
Mr. Mayerscik was posthumously awarded the Meritorious Service Award.
He joined the 10th Mountain "Polar Bears" in November 2002 and was
preparing to once again serve his country when the helicopter crashed
during a training mission. He was the radio telephone operator to the
commander at headquarters.
Mr. Mayerscik was a member of St. Stephen Church in Oil City.
Surviving are his parents, Steve and Kathy Mayerscik of Oil City; and
his sister, Stacey Mayerscik of Greenville, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Steve and Mary
Rist Mayerscik, and his maternal grandparents, John and Betty Gaston
Holzman.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the
Morrison Funeral Home, 110 Petroleum St.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St
Stephen Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Noble, pastor, presiding.
Interment with full military honors will be Thursday, April 3, in
Arlington National Cemetery.

RICHARD B. 'MOOSE' McCRACKEN
Richard B. "Moose" McCracken, 71, of 1435 Liberty St., Franklin, died
in Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, S.C., at 12:34
a.m. Monday, March 17, 2003.
The Huff Chapel in Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

BETTY M. REIGHARD
Betty M. Reighard, 75, of Rimersburg, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday,
March 12, 2003, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a
brief illness.
Born Nov. 2, 1927, in Rimersburg, she was the daughter of Lyman T.
and Dorothy B. Henry Greenawalt.
She was a 1945 graduate of Rimersburg High School. She received an
associate degree in business from the Butler County Community College
in May 1982.
Mrs. Reighard had been employed as a clerk typist II at the Clarion
County Welfare Office since July 1985, retiring there in September
2002.
She was a Protestant.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Robert James and Dang Reighard of
Plano, Texas; two daughters and their husbands, Katherine D. and John
H. McCaslin of Poland, Ohio, and Cynthia Lynn and Donald Waldroup of
East Brady; six grandchildren, Michael Reighard of California, R. Mark
Waldroup of Slippery Rock, Todd E. Waldroup of Fenelton, Brian E.
Reighard of Plano, Texas, Matthew S. Waldroup of East Brady and Megan
Elizabeth McCaslin of Poland, Ohio; and three great-grandchildren,
Marissa Waldroup and Morgan Waldroup, both of Fenelton, and Jacob
Waldroup of Slippery Rock.
She also is survived by thee brothers, James H. Greenawalt and wife,
Nancy, of Shippenville, Richard L. Greenawalt and wife, Pauline, of
East Brady and Edward A. Greenawalt of Rimersburg; three sisters, Jean
Stupka and husband, Joseph, of Pulaski, Lois Greenawalt of Rimersburg
and Judith Burns of North Richardson Hills, Texas; and several nieces
and nephews.
Mrs. Reighard was preceded in death by her father Nov. 27, 1950; her
mother March 9, 1996; a sister, Helen Greenawalt Jan. 25, 1996; and a
brother, Eugene Preston Greenawalt in 1923.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Richard D. Hillis
Funeral Home, Rimersburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home
with the Rev. James M. Eaton, pastor of the Rimersburg United
Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery.

Getting it right - William E. Kightlinger
William E. Kightlinger - William E. Kightlinger, 59, of 213
Independent Road, Franklin, died Tuesday, March 11, in UPMC Northwest,
Franklin. Among his survivors are his stepfather and special friend,
Hays Adams, a stepsister, Brenda Sensenbach, and a stepbrother,
Kenneth Adams, all of Franklin, along with several aunts, uncles,
nieces and nephews.
