MARGARET R. BAUM
Margaret R. Baum, 77, of 716 Innis St., Oil City, died at 8:40 a.m.
Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She had resided in Myrtle Beach, S.C., from 1988 to 2001.
Born Feb. 13, 1926, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Raymond and
Lela Taylor Huey.
She attended public schools in Franklin.
Mrs. Baum was employed for many years at the A&P grocery store in
Franklin, retiring there as head cashier.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Myrtle
Beach.
Mrs. Baum enjoyed needlework, playing bridge at the Belles Lettres
Club in Oil City and traveling around the world.
She was married Dec. 7, 1947, to Forrest L. Baum, who died Oct. 25,
1986.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Bruce B. and Nancy Baum of Three
Rivers, Mich.; three daughters and their husbands, Linda and Dale
Brown of Franklin, Pennie and David Wilhelm of Conway, S.C., and Pam
and Gerry Woods of Dempseytown; 12 grandchildren; and 14
great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by a brother and his wife, John and Betty Huey
of Michigan; and a sister, Gertrude Reinsel of Seneca.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Baum was preceded in
death by a son, Gary W. Baum; a great-grandson, Brian Welscott; and a
brother, Donald Huey.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Huff
Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home
with Pastor Mark Bupp of the Living Word Church in New Wilmington,
grandson-in-law of Mrs. Baum, officiating.
Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery.
The family suggests donations be made to the American Heart
Association, Memorial Processing Dept., 10 Duff Road, Suite 304,
Pittsburgh, 15235.

RONALD J. BIONDI
Ronald J. Biondi, 53, of Spokane, Wash., formerly of Mercer and
Franklin, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at his home.
Born Dec. 22. 1949, in DuBois, he was the son of Arthur and Eleanor
Mainardi Biondi.
He spent his early years in Mercer and Franklin and was a 1967
graduate of Venango Christian High School, Oil City. He earned a
bachelor's degree in 1978 from Gonzaga University in Spokane and an
MBA in 1989 from Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash.
Mr. Biondi was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Navy from 1968
through 1973.
He was employed by Empire Health Services of Spokane for 24 years.
Mr. Biondi was a member of Rotary South in Spokane where he served as
treasurer for a number of years and was a Paul Harris Fellow twice.
He was a board member of Hospice and served on the vestry of St.
Stephen Episcopal Church, Spokane.
Mr. Biondi enjoyed golf, reading, photography, drives in the country
and spending time with his family.
He was married in December 1973 to Lora Hinchliff, his wife of 29
years, in Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Valley, Wash. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Devin and Eric Biondi at home; and a
brother and his wife, Don and Linda Biondi of Franklin.
He also is survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Hinchliff of Chewelah,
Wash.; three sisters-in-law, Marie Schneider of Chewelah, Wash., Joan
Dudney and husband, Don, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Barbara
Hinchliff of Ellensburg, Wash.; two brothers-in-law, Bill Hinchliff
and wife, Sheryl, of Spokane, Wash., and Jim Hinchliff of Deer Park,
Wash.; numerous nieces, nephews and his faithful dog, Munch.
Mr. Biondi was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law; a
brother-in-law; and a sister-in-law.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter
Catholic Church in Spokane with the Rev. Joe Bell presiding.
Interment will follow in Jump Off Joe Catholic Cemetery in Valley,
Wash.
The Ball & Dodd Funeral Home, 421 S. Division St., Spokane, Wash., is
in charge of arrangements.

BRIAN BRINN
Brian Brinn, 49, of 29 Berkley Place, Cartersville, Ga., formerly of
Oil City and Chambersburg, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, in Atlanta,
Ga., after a lengthy illness. He battled cancer after receiving two
liver transplants.
Born Oct. 20, 1953, in Philadelphia, he was the son of Sara J. Brinn
Vare of Georgia and the late Henry Brinn.
A veteran of the United States Navy, he served on the USS John F.
Kennedy.
Mr. Brinn worked for several years as manager of Chambersburg Hoss's
Restaurant. He loved to work and continued working throughout his
illness.
A Cub master and troop leader of a Cub Scout troop in both
Chambersburg and Oil City, he also was a manager and coach of several
Little League baseball teams and served on the board of directors and
as vice president of Chambersburg Little League.
Mr. Brinn was a member of the Chambersburg Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed extensive traveling.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Eric Brian
Brinn of Indiana and David Paul Carson II of Tennessee; a daughter,
Annette Irene Carson of Georgia; three grandchildren; two sisters; and
a brother.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother.
No official services were held.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to C.O.R.E. (Center
for Organ Recovery and Education), 204 Sigma Drive, Pittsburgh, 15238.

PVT. JAMES DILLON JR.
Marine Corps Pvt. James Dillon Jr., 19, died in Kuwait while serving
with the 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. Pvt. Dillon
joined the Marines shortly after graduating in 2002 from Grove City
High School. He attended schools in Mercer before he transferred to
Grove City for his junior and senior years.

MAXINE T. HUFF
Maxine T. Huff, 87, of 1549 Cherrytree Road, Franklin, died at 7:45
a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at her residence.
Born June 6, 1915, in Oakland Township, she was the daughter of Frank
H. and Millicent Mitchell Turner.
She was a 1932 graduate of Rocky Grove High School.
Mrs. Huff retired as a secretary for Gerald Fisher of West Real
Estates where she worked from 1966 to 1979. She also worked for
Manifold Printing Co.
She was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Huff enjoyed crocheting afghans and spending time with her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was married Aug. 12, 1942, to Lawrence C. Huff, who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Dennis C. Huff and wife, Judy, of
Jacksonville, N.C., Mrs. Thomas (Linda) Sollinger and Nora Richey,
both of Franklin, and Mrs. Hugh (Margaret) Benedict of Hellam; eight
grandchildren, Mrs. Tim (Sherrie) Jones of Jacksonville, N.C., Dennis
Huff and wife, Angela, of Beavercreek, Ohio, Mrs. Don (Tracy) Rodgers
and Adam Richey, both of Franklin, Travis Sollinger and wife, Elaine,
of Moon Township, Clinton Richey of Oil City and Ethan and Alec
Benedict of Hellam; and eight great-grandchildren, Chassidy Kelley and
husband, Josh, and Kara and Brittney Laczynski, all of Jacksonville,
N.C., Bradley, Mallory and Grant Rodgers of Franklin, and Kayla and
Matthew Huff of Beavercreek, Ohio.
She also is survived by a brother, Glenn Turner of Oil City; and a
sister, Mrs. Leola Anderson of Erie.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Huff was preceded in death by a
brother, Harold Turner.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Robert W.
Gardinier Funeral Home, Franklin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bethel United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph Martin, pastor, and the Rev.
Ronald C. Bole, VNA Hospice minister, officiating.
Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Bethel Cemetery Association or to the
VNA Foundation.

ERLA C. SOPHER INGRAM
Erla C. Sopher Ingram, 94, of Grove Manor, Grove City, formerly of
Bethlehem, N.C., and California, died at 10:40 p.m. Sunday, March 16,
2003, in United Community Hospital, Grove City.
Born Jan. 12, 1909, in Venango County, she was the daughter of Lon B.
and Sarah Phipps Surrena.
Mrs. Ingram attended Jones School in Irwin Township, Venango County.
She was a homemaker and during World War II, she worked at
Cooper-Bessemer, Grove City.
Mrs. Ingram was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Bethlehem, N.C.,
and was a former member of the Church of God of Prophecy of Nectarine.
She first was married May 11, 1924, to Willard C. Sopher, who died
Sept. 27, 1976. She then was married Oct. 18, 1981, to Floyd L.
Ingram, who died Dec. 31, 2001.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Donald E. (Shirley R.) Klingensmith of
Conover, N.C.; two sons and their wives, William and H. Jeannette
Sopher of Los Angeles, Calif., and Jack B. and Dessie Sopher of
Bethlehem, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by two sisters, Myrna Phillips of Hydetown and
Ruth Coast of Harrisville.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Ingram was preceded in
death by a sister, June Dresch.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Jamison Funeral Home,
117 N. Main St., Harrisville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home
with the Rev. Roy G. Tilton, pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy
of Nectarine, officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Irwin Cemetery, Irwin Township, Venango
County.

ROSE ANN ALDEN METTS
Rose Ann Alden Metts, 73, of Knox RD, died at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday,
March 18, 2003, at the home of her daughter, Janet Hurrelbrink, 2326
Nickleville Road, Knox.
The David C. McEntire Funeral Home of Knox is in charge of
arrangements.

BARBARA J. MORRIS
Barbara J. Morris, 65, of 111 Charlton St, Oil City, died Sunday,
March 16, 2003, at her home.
Born March 4, 1938, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late
Lawrence and Marian Marsh Kluck.
Mrs. Morris was a beautician for 28 years, operating out of her home.
She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, camping, crafts, throwing parties
and her family and friends.
On July 3, 1967, she was married to Granville L. Morrison, who
preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1994.
Surviving are a son, Don Schneider of Laurel, Md.; a daughter,
Melanie Silvis of Oil City; and four grandchildren.
She also is survived by a brother, James Kluck of Seneca; and four
sisters, Judy Todd and Pat Wysocki, both of Oil City, Jackie Carll of
Florida and Marge Malvasso of North Carolina.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Morrison
Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral
home.
Interment will be in Rynd Farm Cemetery.

DOROTHY J. NICHOLS
Dorothy J. Nichols, 89, of 10 Vo-Tech Drive, Oil City, formerly of
418 W. Front St., Oil City, died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003,
in the Oil City Presbyterian Home following a long battle with
osteoarthritis.
Born July 9, 1913, in Oil City, she was the daughter of George S. and
Mary Grant Porter.
She was a 1932 graduate of Oil City High School.
Mrs. Nichols was a homemaker and enjoyed spending her summers at
Henry's Bend where her family had a cottage for many years.
She was a Protestant.
Mrs. Nichols was married July 19, 1952, to Marvin E. Nichols, who
died Feb. 21, 1992.
Surviving are a granddaughter and her husband, Kathy and Scott Karg
of Oil City; two great-grandsons, Jordan and Alex Karg of Oil City; a
special friend, William Fletcher of The Caring Place, Franklin; and
several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was
preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Wojtowicz; three brothers,
George Porter, Edward Porter and William Porter; and four sisters,
Gladys Lane, Irene Davis Scott, Florence Schwabenbauer and Edna M.
Porter.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday
in the Reinsel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home
with Msgr. William C. Karg presiding.
Interment will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

HAROLD E. SLATER
Harold E. Slater, 76, of 2415 Harcourt Terrace, Orange City, Fla.,
formerly of Oil City, died at 8:20 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2003, in the
Florida Hospital-Deland, due to complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig's
disease).
He was known as "Big H" by his family and friends.
Born Sept. 16, 1926, at home on Hasson Heights, Oil City, he was the
son of Frank Ernest and Inez Mary Beecher Slater.
Mr. Slater attended Oil City High School before serving in the U.S.
Army during World War II. He received an honorable discharge March 31,
1947, at Fort Ord, Calif. He later served in the U.S. Army National
Guard.
He was a member of the OCAW Local 8-455 and retired from Pennzoil
Refinery Dec. 1, 1988, after 41 years of service.
Mr. Slater was a member and attended Seneca United Methodist Church
before he and his wife retired to Florida in 1992.
His favorite activities before and after retirement were playing
golf, swimming, billiards, fishing and walking in the woods in
Pennsylvania.
Mr. Slater was married Sept. 28, 1948, to the former Bessie Marie
Rice at the home of his parents on Hoffman Avenue, Oil City. She
survives.
Also surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Priscilla Marie
and Ronald McWilliams of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Linda Jane and Randy
Rodgers of Nicholasville, Ky.; a son and his wife, David B. and
Deborah Slater of Seneca; and his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Harold E.
(Patricia Sue) Slater of Cooperstown; nine grandchildren, Lisa Marie
Doyle of Avondale Estates, Ga., Melissa Jean O'Donnell and husband,
Daniel, of Cochranton, Toby Joe Slater and wife, Amanda, of Lexington,
S.C., Lori Sue Slater of Pittsburgh, Lynn Ann Slater of Meadville,
Jodi Slater Hill and her fiance, Thomas Bewley, of Strattanville,
Charlene Ann Grams and husband, Jeremiah, of Victory Heights and
Jessica Renee and Ashley Marie Rodgers of Nicholasville, Ky.; and five
great-grandchildren, Alexis Victoria and Dylan Joseph O'Donnell of
Cochranton, Dylan Colby Slater of Lexington, S.C., and Trevor Alan
David Hill and Jenna Nicole Bewley of Strattanville.
He also is survived by his twin brother, Howard E. Slater and wife,
Elizabeth, of Orange City, Fla.; and two sisters and their husbands,
Judith A. and Freeman Rhoads of Franklin and Inez L. and John Best of
Franklin RD 2.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Slater was preceded in death by a
daughter, Cynthia Louise Slater, Nov. 3, 1954; a son, Harold E. "Joe"
Slater Jr., July 23, 1997; and a sister, Mrs. Ralph H. (Virginia
Irene) Stephens, Jan. 17, 1994.
The family suggests memorials be made to the ALS Foundation, 27001
Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabasas, Calif., 91301-5104.
The Allen Summerhill Funeral Home, 163 S. Volusia Ave., Orange City,
Fla., is in charge of arrangements.

FRANK LEE WILSON
Frank Lee Wilson, 59, of Marienville, died Monday, March 17, 2003, in
an accident at work for the J.J. Kennedy Co. near Clarion.
Born March 16, 1944, in Grove City, he was the son of Lee R. and Elmo
Eight Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a member of the Marienville Volunteer Fire Co. where
he was chief of the fire police.
He enjoyed bowling and belonged to three bowling leagues in
Brookville.
Mr. Wilson was married Aug. 14, 1965, to Nancy Lee Phillips, who
survives.
Also surviving are one son and his wife, Erik and Brenda Wilson of
Saint Clair Shores, Mich.; one daughter and her husband, Stacie and
William Bailey of Vowinckel; and four grandchildren, Heather and
Christopher Wilson and Cecelia and Jackson Bailey.
He also is survived by one sister, Martha Jenkens of San Jose,
Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents and one sister,
Lenore Reed.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday
in the Ronald McDonald Funeral Home, Marienville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Marienville
United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Richter presiding.
Interment will be in North Forest Cemetery, Marienville.
