Robert Jay Bish Sr.
Robert Jay Bish Sr., 99, of McKinley Health Center, Brookville,
formerly of 8191 Route 28, Mayport, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in
the McKinley facility.
Born June 8, 1905, in Alcola, Clarion County, he was the son of James
W. and Maggie A. Shick Bish.
Mr. Bish worked as a coal miner.
He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church of Fairmount City
and the Shannondale Grange.
Mr. Bish first was married June 30, 1926, to Nellie Minerd, who
preceded him in death. He then was married Sept. 30, 1937, to Rebecca
Betty Reade, also deceased.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Slagle of Fort
Myers, Fla., Bettie Miles of Distant, Mrs. Robert (Beverly) Hetrick of
New Bedford and Mrs. Denny (Rhonda) Slagle of Fairmount City; 19
grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 13
great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bish was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; 12
brothers; one sister; two sons, Robert Jay Bish Jr. and Roger Bish;
three daughters, Gloria McCoy, Monte Pearl Bish and Lynda Slagle; two
grandchildren, Robert Miles Jr. and Jeff McCoy; and one
great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Friday and
from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Alcorn Funeral Home, Hawthorn.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home
with Pastor Randy Evans, hospice chaplain of the Clarion-Forest
Visiting Nurses Association, officiating.
Interment will be in Alcola Trinity Cemetery.

Benedictine Sister Mary David Callahan
Benedictine Sister Mary David Callahan, a former Oil City resident,
died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in Mount Saint Benedict Monastery, Erie,
after a long illness.
She was born in Oil City, a daughter of the late Leo David and Anna
Short Callahan and received her early education in St. Joseph Parish
schools, Oil City.
Sister Mary David graduated in1941 from St. Benedict Academy, Erie,
and entered the Benedictine Sisters of Erie in August of the same
year. She made her final profession as a Benedictine Sister Aug. 21,
1945, and had celebrated her silver and golden anniversaries of
profession.
She was an accomplished pianist, organist and composer who began her
ministry in music at age five with piano lessons. At age 12, she was
playing the church organ as well as the piano. Her formal education in
music included a bachelor's degree in music with concentration in
composition, theory and piano awarded by the Eastman School of Music,
Rochester, N.Y., and a master's degree in liturgy and liturgical music
from Notre Dame University, South Bend, Ind.
Sister Mary David taught piano and choral music in several parish
schools including Immaculate Conception, Clarion; St. Stephen, Oil
City; Venango Christian High School, Oil City; and St. Benedict
Academy, Erie.
She served as organist at St. Julia Parish, Erie, and St. Titus
Parish, Titusville.
The compositions that were her primary focus since the 1950s are
well-known and widely published. While most of her work is related to
liturgy and ranges from psalm tones to hymns to masses, she composed
orchestral and instrumental works, including a symphony.
Sister Mary David served her Benedictine community as novice director
and as liturgical musician at Mount Saint Benedict Monastery. As
novice director, she trained dozens of young sisters in the Rule of
St. Benedict. As a musician, her compositions and interpretations of
her own and other music graced and energized monastic liturgies daily
for many years.
Surviving are her religious community, the Benedictine Sisters of
Erie; her brother, David L. Callahan of Oil City; and her nephew, Dr.
Paul LaFemina of Las Vegas, Nev.
Sister Mary David was preceded in death by her parents and her
sister, Dorothy.
Visiting hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 7
p.m. Friday at Mount Saint Benedict Monastery. Service of memories
will be held there at 7 p.m. Friday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in
the chapel of Mount Saint Benedict Monastery
Interment will follow in Trinity Cemetery, Erie.

Lake Road, Erie, 16511.

Ninth Street, Erie.

Clarence Loren Conner
Clarence Loren Conner, 74, of East Brady, formerly of Parker, died of
natural causes at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at his
residence.
Born Dec. 24, 1930, in Bluegoose, near Parker, he was the son of
Harry and Elizabeth Hook Conner.
Mr. Conner retired in 1982 after 30 years of service with Asplundh
Tree Co.
He was a member of the Regular Baptist Church in East Brady.
For more than 30 years, Mr. Conner was a social member of VFW Post
7073 in Parker.
Throughout his entire lifetime, Mr. Conner enjoyed working on
automobiles and was well-known as one of the finest mechanics in the
area.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and gardening
with both vegetables and flowers.
Mr. Conner loved spending time with his family and had a great love
for his dogs, Pierre and Cokie.
He first was married to Mable Kathleen Smith, who died July 22, 1981.
He later married Shelda Hilliard Ashbaugh, who died March 3, 2000.
Surviving are five sons, Loren Dean "Butch" Conner of Mineral Ridge,
Ohio, the Rev. Steven Clarence Conner of Fort Lee, N.J., William Henry
Conner and wife, Julie, of Butler, Larry Keith Conner and wife,
Michelle, of Butler and Clarence Loren Conner Jr. and wife, Lynette,
of Camden, Ohio; two daughters, Donna Marlene Armstrong and husband,
Jeff, of Mineral Ridge, Ohio, and Mable Kathleen "Kathy" Robinson and
husband, Timothy, of Knob Knoster, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Marian
Michaels Hill of Butler and Becky Bumgartner Mills and husband,
Michael, of Vandergrift; one stepson, Robert Soltis of Pittsburgh; two
adopted daughters, Kim Conner of Butler and Kelly Conner of Alum Rock;
23 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by two brothers, Ronald Conner of Grove City and
Carl Conner of Rimersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Russell (Ruth) King of
Knox, Lucille Jordan of Parker and Mrs. Jerry (Doris) Bell of Chicora;
and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wives, Mr. Conner was preceded in
death by four brothers, Alvin Conner, Lawrence Conner, Edgar Conner
and Lloyd Conner; and two sisters, Aileen Fox and Edna Watterson.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the H. Jack
Buzard Funeral Home, Wayne Street, Parker.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral
home with the Rev. Steven Conner, son of the deceased, officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Conneration, Clarion
County.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East Brady
Ambulance, East Brady Fire Department, In-Home Solutions of Brookville
or to Three Rivers Hospice of White Oak.

Larry D. Glosser
Larry D. Glosser, 53, of Pine Terrace Road, Shippenville, Paint
Township, died unexpectedly at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in
Clarion Hospital after a sudden illness.
Born April 23, 1951, in Brookville, he was the son of Dennis F.
Glosser, who died Feb. 18, 2005, and Olive C. Smith Glosser, who died
Oct. 26, 1988.
Mr. Glosser was a 1970 graduate of Clarion High School. and was a
1988 graduate of Missouri Western State College where he received a
bachelor of science degree in criminal justice.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Glosser was employed by various trucking companies as a truck
driver and retired in 1984 due to health reasons.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion.
Mr. Glosser was an elected constable for Paint Township.
He enjoyed country music, crossword puzzles, spending time with his
family especially his grandson, and long weekend get-aways.
Mr. Glosser was married Aug. 1, 1986, to Kathy Best, who survives.
Also surviving are two brothers, Dan Glosser and wife, Sue, of
Allison Park and Jeff Glosser and companion, Jennifer Hetrick, of
Shippenville; one stepson, Michael Cotherman and his companion, Katie
Beck, of Shippenville; and one grandson, William Cotherman of
Shippenville.
He also is survived by his mother-in-law, Florabell Best Niederriter
of Shippenville; two brothers-in-law, Kevin Best and wife, Pam, of
Shippenville and Ken Best and wife, Chrystal, of Clarion; and eight
nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Glosser was preceded in death by an
infant brother, Jerry, and an infant sister, Twila.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Robert V.
Burns Funeral Home, Clarion.
A Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. today in the
funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in the
Immaculate Conception Church with Msgr. Joseph J. Riccardo, pastor,
presiding.
Interment will be in Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.

Patrick J. Hubauer
Patrick J. Hubauer, 74, a Clarion native, brother of Maureen
Schwabenbauer of Tylersburg and a retired lieutenant colonel in the
U.S. Army, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at his home in Stafford County,
Va.

Dorothy L. Lesh
Dorothy L. Lesh, 89, of Winston-Salem, N.C., died Tuesday, March 15,
2005, at Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Community.
Born July 14, 1915, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Roy V. and
Edith B. Lesh.
She graduated from Oil City High School and graduated with honors in
1940 from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor of science
degree in home economics. She received a master of science degree in
library science in 1956 from Columbia University.
Miss Lesh became a literature scientist in 1950, specializing in
research on organic nitrogen compounds.
She was a member of the American Chemical Society, the American
Association of University Women and the Special Libraries Association.
Miss Lesh was a lifelong Methodist and was a member of Stokesdale
United Methodist Church in Stokesdale, N.C.
She enjoyed extensive travel throughout the world with her cousin,
Edith Mohnkern Fox, and was an amateur photographer and hiker.
Surviving are her special friend and caregiver, Texie Wilson of
Stokesdale, N.C.; her cousins, Joyce and Darrell Gibbs of Titusville,
George and Carol Fox of Titusville, Beth Bowser of Oil City, Doug and
Vicky Fox of Cranberry, Dee and Dave Busch of Lewisville, Texas,
Clayton and Sue Fox of Oil City, Bill and Vicky Fox of Marshall, N.C.,
Al Mohnkern of Pennsylvania, Ray Lesh and wife Polly, of Independence,
Mo.; and numerous other cousins throughout the United States.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Morrison
Funeral Home, Oil City.
Interment will be in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery,
Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dorothy L. Lesh
Chemical Literature Library at Pennsylvania State University, 510
Paterno Library, University Park, 16802-1812, or to a charity of one's
choice.

Mary C. Niederriter
Mary C. Niederriter, 68, of 108 Oak St., Warren, formerly of Oil
City, died at 11:03 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in Warren General
Hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Niederriter moved from Oil City to Warren six years ago to be
near her daughter.
Born Feb. 17, 1937, in Oil City, she was the daughter of James H. and
Catherine Lonergan Carey.
She attended St. Joseph Grade School and was a 1956 graduate of St.
Joseph High School.
Mrs. Niederriter was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, cooking,
crossword puzzles, soap operas and being around her family and
grandchildren.
She was married May 4,1957, in St. Joseph Church, Oil City, to James
F. Niederriter, who died Feb. 22, 1994.
Surviving are four children, J. Steven Niederriter and wife, Janet,
stationed with the U.S. Army in Belgium, Daniel P. Niederriter of Oil
City, Diane M. Niederriter of Halifax and Debra A. Niederriter of
Warren; and three grandchildren, Sara, Joshua and Kristen Niederriter.
She also is survived by two sisters, Joanne Meagher and husband,
Paul, and Barb Hall, all of Oil City; and one brother, Robert Carey of
Wilmington, Del.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Niederriter was preceded
in death by three brothers, James Carey, Richard Carey and Jack Carey;
and one sister, Patricia McClellan.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday in the
Reinsel Funeral Home, 116 Bissell Ave., Oil City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home
with Msgr. John W. Swoger, pastor of St; Joseph Church, presiding.
Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Oil City.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the
Warren County Humane Society, 112 Elm St., Warren, 16365.

Lewis W. "Bim" Wommer II
Lewis W. "Bim" Wommer II, 40, of Erie, died Monday, March 7, 2005, in
Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie.
Born Jan. 17, 1965, in Williamsport, he was the son of Lewis E. and
Lula Bartlow Wommer.
Mr. Wommer earned his computer graphic design diploma.
He was an avid Steelers fan, enjoyed art, drawing and playing trivia.
Mr. Wommer was married July 7, 1990, to Jacqueline Winger Wommer, who
survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Karen Eck Reese and husband, Cletus,
of Allensville; two granddaughters; December Ann Eck and Brianna Marie
Reese; a brother, Lewis E Wommer; a mother-in-law, Shirley Winger;
dear friends, Chris Henderson and Jamie Flick; sisters-in-law,
Shirley, June and Jill, all of Oil City; brothers-in-law, Mark and
Gary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wommer was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lawrence
Gary Wommer; and his father-in-law, John Winger.
No calling hours will be observed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, in the A. Brugger
& Sons Funeral Home, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38 St., Erie.
Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of the funeral
home.

Dennis M. "Fuzz" Zacherl
Dennis M. "Fuzz" Zacherl, 51, of 104 Greenlee Road, Polk, Sandy Lake
Township, died at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at his home after
an extended illness.
Born Nov. 1, 1953, in Oil City, he was the son of the late George F.
and Mary G. Schill Zacherl.
Mr. Zacherl was a 1971 graduate of Cranberry High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Zacherl worked for 27 years at Polk Center, retiring in 2001.
He attended the Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church.
Mr. Zacherl loved to golf and was a member of the Lakeview Golf
League.
He was married March 1, 2001, to Lynn M. Thomas, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. John (Lisa) Owens of Slippery
Rock; one son, Scott Zacherl and his fiancee, Monique Laurencot, of
Stoneboro; a stepdaughter, Mandy Rankin of Grove City; his stepfather,
Max Dudzic of Oil City; two grandchildren, Evan Michael Owens of
Slippery Rock and Austin Michael Wagner of Grove City; and his former
wife, Sue Buckley of Stoneboro.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; and his
grandparents, Cecil and Helen Aul, who helped rear him.

Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home
with the Rev. Daniel P. Irvine, pastor of the Sandy Lake Wesleyan
Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.
