These are a couple of articles which our ancestors may have read in the
Penfield Weekly News, March 5, 1892. The paper is "Devoted To The Interests
Of Bennetts Branch Valley". Subscription Price, $1.00 a year, payable in
advance.

The church authorities in Penfield act just a little narrow when they refuse
to permit Free Methodist preaching in either of the buildings.

The service in the Methodist church on Sabbath evening was very enjoyable
and impressive. The addresses of the aged men and of Prof. Shields was full
of the very best advice to old and young.

Churches think they must get up some theatrical doings or have a horn in the
choir to draw the people. The plain, strong, simple preaching of the Bible
might be tried first, and it never was tried without the crowds came to hear
it.
