Subject: [PACRAWFO-L] I am seeking information about my G-Grandparents.
Date: Wed, 20 May 98 12:59:41 Pacific Daylight Time

John M. Jones married Nancy A. Stainbrook on December 30, 1830 in Randolph Township,
Crawford County, Pa. John was a shoemaker by trade and worked at that until1847 when he bought a farm
and worked it until 1862. At that time, John and Nancy removed to Chestnut Township,Illinois. John died
there November 1, 1863. Nancy died in Knoxville, Knox County, Illinois on April 21, 1881. These two
people were my great grandparents, and although I have much data on Nancy A. Stainbrook's forebears, I
have no information as to the name of the parents of John M. Jones. Both he and Nancy were born in
Crawford County. The 1850 US Census gives Nancy's birthdate as thirty-eight, and John's birthdate as thirty-
nine. They were the parents of ten children, four sons of whom were soldiers in the Civil War. One, Daniel
Hatch Jones attached to the 83rd Pa. vol Inf., Army of the Potomac for three years. participated in 29 hard
fought battles and twice wounded. Thomas W. Jones served four years in the 10 Pa. vol. reserves, captured
and became a POW at Libby Prison, Belle Island and Andersonville. He was POW for 18 months, and died
Oct 10, 1867 and buried at Marmaton, Kansas. He, too, was attached to Army of the Potomac. One son,
Easack was attached to the 83rd. Illinois vol Infantry along with my grandfather, William Jones in the Army of
Tennessee.
Any information shared with me about my g-grandparents forenames will be deeply appreciated.
Thank you.
