Subject: [PACRAWFO-L] McMaster Cemetery

We are greatly indebted to local person, Karl Dennis, for informing us of a
cemetery which does not appear in any Crawford Co. records. There are eleven
grave sites as marked below by ***. James McMaster b. 1799 is my great,
great grandfather. Also below is a short line of the McMasters and how these
people relate. We are assuming James MT, Thomas, and Elizabeth are children
of Hugh and Esther because of 2 things: one is the placement in this cemetery
with them next to the parents and also because we had a gap in dates for their
children during this time frame. The other 2 relationships which must be
labeled as educated guesses are for infant b. 1869 and Fred b. 1872. James b.
1837 seems to be the only child of Hugh and Esther married at this time to be
having children.

McMaster Cemetery is located halfway between Adamsville and Hartstown. By the
time the 1876 map was made, this property had been transferred to J. F. Patton
(Joseph Free), son-in-law of the original owner, Hugh McMaster. Ten of the
stones are the identical stone and cutting; Nancy Jane Blair's is different.
The identical ones do not appear to be the original stones. It would be
interesting to know who replaced these stones. It is our guess that it may
have been John McMaster, last to die of the McMasters, who is buried there.
We do believe the location of the cemetery to be authentic since Hugh McMaster
mentions in his will to bury him beside his wife buried on the farm. If there
are any descendants of these McMasters out there, I'd enjoy hearing from you
at my own email address. Thanks again to Karl who took the time to email me
about this McMaster Cemetery.
