Has anyone encountered records that mention Reverand Thomas Lonergan,
a Roman Catholic pastor ? I am trying to understand his relationship to my
O'NEILL family in Sparta township, who owned a farm a short distance from
Spartansburg, PA. I imagine he is the parish priest for St. Brigid's RC
Church, Meadville, Crawford Co, PA. .

I have a copy of the affidavit, filed in the US civil war pension
records, dated 30 November 1867 where he certifies that he baptized Elizabeth
Ellen O'NEILL on 3 June 1862. The microfilm copy of St Brigid's records
begins with baptisms dated Oct 1864 or this 1862 baptism is not recorded in
that collection.

The next records I have are deeds:
first, a deed recorded 6 October 1880 where Thomas O'NEAL (signed Thomas J.
O'NEIL) in consideration of $ 1 'quit claims' the farmland in Sparta
township to Rev Thomas Lonergan.

second, a deed recorded 6 December 1886 where Elizabeth O'NEILL Webster and
Mary Ann O'NEILL, heirs of John O'NEILL ... in consideration of $ 800 'quit
claim' to the farmland to Thomas Lonnergan of Erie County, Pennsylvania.

Sheila Strickland
