HI again !
Thinks to all who have replied I know where ROME is and I truly appreciate so
many kind responses!
What a nice list this has become and active in my absence not to say it was
not nice before but REALLY nice now!
Last question is about Evergreen , Cemetery. I looked about on the site (
which is great) and do not see Evergreen anywhere.
Can you write them.
I live in Florida and will not be dropping by anytime soon.
I am missing a JOHN Morris who should have died abt 1840ish.
He will be in a ROME Cemetery probably or Evergreen as that is where Delana
GORTON MORRIS b. 1804 is buried in 1850. My best guess anyway.Hiram Morris b.
1805 NY is buried there too! 1871and probably his 2nd wife Mary Davis MORRIS
who died not long after he did.
My internet cousin did not look for Rachel Paxton or Ansel McCall GORTON
either.
The answers to part of the puzzle may be here.
Where they lived in NY almost has NO MORRIS buried in it! I have looked high
and low. Records are scarce in central / lower NY , I do turn up one now and
again but it depends on the year they were read.( quite a few readings and it
took my small brain awhile to figure out what was going on.)
However there is a good chance he came to Meadville with Hiram and Hiram is
here in 1840. At that time he is still in NY with James Morris b. 1799. But
James moves to
Michigan in abt 1843. There are rumors too among the family that one of
Hirams daughters remembered him. SO I really would like to know more about
Evergreen Cemetery.
Thank you, I hate to be a bother.
But all information is appreciated.
Feeling lucky!
vanda
