Christian F. HALFAST, died at the Logan hospital at Cambridge Springs on
Friday of paralysis, after an illness of 18 weeks in the 42d year of his
age. Deceased was born in Cussewago, and had always made the old
homestead his home, though his business, canvassing for the sale of
nursery stock, kept him most of the time away from home. Wilkinburg
having been his headquarters for the past 18 years. He was unmarried
and is survived by his mother, Mrs. Christian Halfast, on the old
homestead, two brothers, Eber and L. W. in Cussewago township, and two
sisters, Mrs. Tracey Clough of Cambridge Springs, and Mrs. L. O. Slayton
of Conneautville. His body was removed from the hospital to the home of
Mr. Clough and the funeral was held at the Lutheran church at Drake's
Mills on Monday, and interment in the cemetery at that place. Deceased
was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Edinboro, and was buried with
the honors of the order. Mr. & Mrs. Slayton went to Cambridge Springs
on Saturday and remained until after the funeral.
Mrs. Maggie McMichael, widow of John R. McMichael of Geneva, PA, died at
the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. C. FIRST, in this place on the
afternoon of the 10th, aged 75 years. She came here to visit the family
of her daughter, and was taken sick on the night she arrived, pneumonia
developing and causing her death, after less than a week's illness. She
was a lifelong resident of Geneva, but had many friends here gained
during visits to the family of her daughter. She leaves two sons, James
at home and William of Cleveland the the daughter here. (Didn't copy
