It certainly would make it easier on a lot of researchers if birth records went
back as far as the early 1800s. Unfortunately, the Federal government waited
until the latter part of the 19th century to require the registration of births.
Such records would be kept in the local Courthouse.
The next best thing to birth records would be to determine if the parents were
residents of the county. I gather from your message you believe they were.
However, I have check the Census of the county for those years (see
http://www.alltel.net/~yoset/) and find no Rider or variation thereof.
You might check the cemetery index for the early death of one of these children
or of the parents. Finding no census entry and no infants left behind may
indicate the shortness of their visit, if there was one, to the county.
