I thought the list might enjoy the following letter to the editor of the
Crawford Democrat, 21 Jan. 1851.

INCORRECTNESS OF THE CENSUS

EAST FALLOWFIELD, Jan. 18th, 1851
MR. JAS. E. McFARLAND
SIR: In your paper of the 31st ult., I noticed that some doubts were
entertained as to the correctness of the present Census. -- At a school
meeting held in District No. 3d., last evening, some inquiry was made
concerning the matter, and it was found that ten families out of twenty-nine
in our District had not been visited by the Marshalls. This will account,
in part, for the deficiency in the Fallowfields.
