Try as I might, I just can't find it! Someone said it might be in Crawford Co. Can anyone tell me where this town might be or what it's current name is, if it still exists?
>From a Pittsburg Gazette Reference dated March 4, 1797:
[Town of Salisbury. The subscribers having laid out a town on the east side of French Creek, in Allegheny County, above Cussewango, offer the lots for sale at moderate prices, without condition of settlement... The terms of Sale to be made known by applying to James G. HERON, Pittsburg, and to Samuel LORD on the premises, who have plans of the town. /s/ James G. HERON, Samuel LORD, Feb. 21]
I know that Allegheny Co. was split around 1800.
I'm trying to find info about this Samuel LORD to see if he might be an ancestor.
I have no info on the origin of my John LORD b.4/21/1805 d.2/22/1849 m. 6/1832 Anna Maria TYLER(b. 4.1811 VT)in Springfield, PA.
Anna Maria's parents, Samuel and Lydia MARTIN TYLER, lost a child in French Creek, NY in 1816. Between 1820 and 1823 the family moved on to Springfield,PA and then to WI.
Thanks for any info.
