Cussewago was the original name for Meadville, so the proposed town of
"Salisbury" just to the north, must have been between Meadville and
Saegertown. I've seen the newspaper reference you mention from 1797.
Samuel Lord lived just north of the town of Meadville at that time, and his
property now is within the City of Meadville, part of it is Allegheny
College. I have not been able to trace the proposed new town in any land
sales, but any deeds prior to 1800 for anywhere in N/W Pa. are recorded in
Pittsburgh. (The LDS has filmed them, but will not sell the film to the
Crawford Co. Genealogical Society without the consent of the Recorder of
Deeds of Allegheny County, and he, for reasons known only to himself, will
not give consent.)
