Sandy,
It depends on a lot of things. The newpaper that I worked for in the past
archived everything - until space became and issue - and then started
selectively storing or trashing photos, clippings, files that hadn't been
used in a long time.
Also, keep in mind too, that today if the newspaper used your photo they
would surely credit you. (Photo courtesy of ....) But it wasn't always
common practice. The photo may have been owned by a Dickson family member
and it had been loaned to the paper for use.
It works in your favor that the Tribune-Republican is still in business -
Meadville Tribune. But, don't hold out too much hope. Archives, especially
those that go back 50+ years don't have as much perceived value to the
newpaper industry as they would to folks in the genealogy world.
