Mary Lou,
The address you wrote to is correct. This office has birth and death
records from 1893 or 1894 until 1905 for Dauphin county. Vital Records (a
state office) office keeps all birth and death records from 1906 to
present. Harrisburg was sometimes spelled with an h on the end (I have
found in my records). There was not 100% compliance with the requirement
to registers births and deaths before 1906, when the state began keeping
the records. Unfortunately, if the county could not find your names, they
probably did not comply with the requirement (or the doctor didn't). You
might try requesting a marriage record if they were married in Dauphin co.
Those records have a great deal of information (write to same address in
Harrisburg).
p.s. regarding Sylvan Heights... The building is the new home of the YWCA,
and was recently renovated and restored.
